99 v6 camry differential fluid

Hello, I did a brief search on this and couldn't come up with anything. I was hoping someone here could be of some help. I'm trying to change the differential fluid on my automatic '99 v6 camry, however I can't locate the filler plug. The Haynes manual specificies where it's supposed to be, however when I look in that location nothing is there.

So my question is, where is the filler plug? If anyone has a picture that would be great, because I'm at a loss. Some say that it's a 17mm bolt, but that bolt is holding the transmission to the engine. Which I'm a bit hesitant to remove this bolt.

The differential filler bolt is located on the driver side but you must remove the driver side front wheels to actually see it. It is easily access once the wheel are removed. I haven't checked but the bolt is very large maybe 17mm so it would be easy to spot. By the way if you are planning to replace the automatic transaxle fluid do that first because there is an overflow tube that connects to the differential in the same housing. So if you overfill your transaxle fluid it will flow to the differential housing. You will also notice that there is a seperate 10 mm hex drain bolt for the differential.

Me Too

I have the same question as CBOEY. I want to change the fluid in the differential of my 2000 V6 Camry with automatic transaxle. I have the same Haynes manual. Haynes' diagram is very clear on where to look for the fill plug. However, at that location, there is a plugged hole in the casting. See the photo I have posted in my gallery. I am afraid to drain the differential if I can't refill it. dl175 says there is a overflow tube between the transaxle and differential. But Haynes states "CAUTION: Do not overfill. The automatic transaxle and the differential are separate units." Who is correct? Where is the fill plug? Thanks for any help.

camry v6 shared atf and differential fluid, drain from transmission pan, refill through the ATF dip stick hole left of the battery.

camry 4cyl has separate atf and differential fluid, where the differential has its own drain plug, and 17mm refill plug.
