It seemed a bit steep to me as well. But the engine is a OBD@ engine as opposed to the gen 3 Camrys. I can buy a gen 3 Camry 5SFE engine all day long for about $700-$800. But I have looked everywhere for a replacement for mine, I found one with 70,000-1000,000 and the guy wanted $1700 for it,

Then I found one which had 35k on it and he wanted $1200 for it(bastard sold it from under me)

Anyway I came across this outfit and they offer a re-manufactured engine(pretty much a brand new engine) and a 3 year unlimited milage warrenty with it. I figured I'd pay the extra bit of cash to get that because if I buy a used engine how do I know 3 months down the line that the engine does not crap out on me.

I pondered what I wanted to do since January and this is what I finally decided.
I don't consider myself to be part of the "Cheap Camry Community"

I originaly bought the Black 3VZ Camry I have now to replace it, make the new project car, and part out the other Camry and call it a day. But I have alot of wrench time, blood, and sweat in and out and under that car. I would have to say that 99.9% of everything done to that car I did myself. Plus my wife really really wanted that car

So shes stocked about it and and am happy that she is no longer a ginormous paper weight anymore.
