3rd Generation retro fitting ES300 projectors

hey guys!

been doing quite a bit of searching but keep going around in circles here. there's about 10 threads that i found about the retro fit, but none of them are very specific to say the least, and seem like in-accurate information.

if i were to find a pair of ES 300 92-96 headlights with the dual projector beams, what would i need to do to make those fit in my 95 gen3 camry? like i said already, i've done some searching, and i've seen one thread where they said that the housing was too large or something, and other threads saying that it's an EASY swap (which i really doubt ) anyway, if there's anyone with real hardcore information, or even better, someone who has done the fit, please reply or shoot me a PM or anything. thank you.

also did the 92-96 es's have HID? if not, then when i swap in the projectors into my camry, then that means that i wouldn't be able to get HID right? cause i read in some threads that only projectors made for HIDs could support the HID lighting

thanks for anything

You could get the HID's in there, but the pattern would be right.

the camry housing is big enough to fit just about any projectors, so that shouldn't be a concern

and I'm not sure about the projectors being hid projectors or not, but they will still work, but the beam just won't be as good as the beam from an hid designed projector

I don't think the old school ES300 projectors were designed for HIDs, meaning that the lenses have different focal points and the cutoff pattern shoots off into the sky at an angle. You should be able to fit them in the Camry housing though. Our housings are friggin huge.

i think he's talking about putting the entire housing on his car and not retrofitting the projectors themselves.

in order to do that you would need atleast fenders and a hoodyou might be able to form your bumper to it.

^in that case, get ready to bust out some bondo and do some major bodywork. I could easily see the job topping over a grand after all is said and done.

I was thinking abou that after re-reading the thread, but since there was a VERY recent thread about the front conversion, I wasn't sure.

no, i don't want to do a fron conversion, i just want to know what the capabilities of swapping the dual projectors from the ES to the camry, and if it's true that they may or may not fit (seems like they should fit though ) i also read that they lights will wire up pretty easily too. but in this field im not quite sure how easy "easily" means.

hey, and i was reading that apparently the ES fenders, hoods, and bumpers of the correspodding years will line up just fine with the same years as the camry, i read that in mulitple threads, but is there any truth to this? seemse interestingly easy (in front end conversion talk) if this is fact.

Bueller, Bueller?

thanks again for everything so far guys.

I believe the ES300 uses 9005/9006 bulbs.

well, as far as I know, the 92-96 camry and es were built on the same chassis, with the same basic dimensions.... while i don't know about mounting points, i would imagine that it is simply a fender/ headlight swap to make the fit.... i've definately seen pics around where that was all that was swapped... cuz i know you wanna keep that pretty hood and front bumper.... oh, and i was just looking at fenders and headlights on ebay....wow, that's gonna be an expensive conversion... even if you only go for fenders and headlights..... might be better off just getting the headlights and cutting the camry fenders to fit.

i thought you needed to change the bumper, fenders, grill, and hood JUST to use those headlights. Not worth the effort after you already painted your whole car. I would just find some projectors off another car and retrofit them in.

^yeah let's not forget about painting all that, too. Unless you want a Maaco job, that's gonna run your tab up. Just rip the projectors out of the es300 and jam them into the camry headlight housing. It's probably 10x cheaper and looks just as good as long as you do it right.

yeah my main goal is to see what kind of electrical stuff i need to pull the projectors out of the ES and then once they're in the camry headlights (which will be the easy part for me) what kind of electrical stuff will i need to connect the projectors up to work, and possible HID since it looks like that will be possible.

the question about the front end conversion was just an add-on cause it just didn't seem like noone knew for sure about the whole deal on what fits and what doesn't but yes, my main idea is just the retro fit of the projector beams!

I think you have to do a whole bunch more research before you understand the difference between getting projectors and getting hids

unless the projectors are bi-xenon, you don't have any electicals to rip out of anything
