Australia v6 camry overheating probs.

hi guys, im a first time user so please be gentle with me. lol.

i have a 1993 v6 3vz-fe toyota camry and it is experiencing some overheating problems, they are not too bad. ( guage hits about 3/4 when normally sits roughly 1/2)

anyway, i know its not a coolant loss issue as i have been checking the levels every morning and it is always full to the top.

the main problem of overheating seems to be when i actually driving at higher speeds and not when the car is idling at lights etc.

also, im hearing hydro fan working more often than usual

i had the water pump replaced about 6 months ago but not the thermostat at the time.

anybody have any input as to what it could be.

i have a feeling its either a thermostat or a blockage in the radiatior somewhere

ps, i completley drained, flushed and refilled the radiator today, and yet the problem still exists.

You mention loss of coolant, have you checked for leaks?

Its either leaking and/or boiling off from the overheating.

^ Oops.. my bad.

Anyways, I agree with the others. Thermostat, radiator cap, blockage somewhere, dead water pump (i've seen new ones go bad).

do a coolant system flush....then see what happens, and about the fan. on the 3vz-fe i dont think it can just speed up since it runs off the PS pump which runs off the RPM's unless it purposely ups the RPM or it in fact can control the hydraulic flow through the fan pump...this im not sure though

Hi, just happen to see this comment and would like to add that the 3vz-fe which i hv, actually has a switch connected to the ps pump whereby, it will allow dual speed. (Eg. When A/C cuts in or when temp goes up.)

I've got some issues with that earlier...
