help with cd player

well, i use my stock cd player just about every weekday when I go to school, and about a week ago, it stopped working. The first time, a few months back, when I turned on my car and then turned on the cd player, it wouldn't read. Then after a few days, it suddenly started up like nothing had happened. This time it started off when I was driving and the cd I was playing started to skip. I ejected the disc, looked it over, it was clean and smooth so I popped it back in and then it wouldn't read. It tried to read it but then it ejected it back out. It's been about a week since that happened and I was hoping someone on this forum could help diagnose the problem. Thanks

You probably just need to clean the laser lens on it. They have kits for this.
