id used castrol a couple times first ,it has detergents that clean your engine and then move over to moble 1.... ... if your car is new then go straight to moble 1 (what i use).
Jaspher, does your engine tick really lightly when your engine is at idle? Toyots said this normal for the Gen5 V6. Then they said I need an Oil change. I told them I had it done about 1000 miles ago. Then they asked me what Oil I used, I told them Mobil 1 New Car Formula, and they said that can be the problem. it's even funny, there the one that did the oil change..

My gen 3 (93) ticks when at idle. It only happens when my engine is warm though, like when I'm coming home from work. At first I thought there was something being moved around in the catalytic converter or something, but I really have no idea what it is. So they say its the oil?
Ok while we are talking about engines and oils and such. i have a problem that maybe someone could help me with.
When i drive my car to school( on the highway) about 25mins away everything is fine, but when i hit the gas pretty hard and the rpms start to climb i start to notice a smell coming from my engine. Its almost like something is burning. I checked all of my oils and fluids and everything was ok. My oil could use a changing but it is nothing in desperate need. My only other thought was maybe the anitfreeze needs to me flushed. So i will do them both this weekend. But if anyone has any thought on what this could be it would be apprecaited. Thanks
Ryan
