Well my repair manual should be here next wed, but My left rear speaker is dead. I'm being offered a cheap pair of Jensen Triaxial 6x9" for $20 (half what circuit city sells them for) Can i just somehow hook those up to the red and black wire as it is now?
Also, how do i remove the speakers? As i said manual is coming in in a few days

If the gewn fours are like the gen 3 you have to pull off the third brake light. then you will have to put down the seats. Then on my car there where two philips head screws (one on each side) behind the seats. Then that back cover will pull out. The four screws to each speaker is there. I am not shore which wire goes to which termanal. But if you take a 9-v battery adn touch the positive to the positive and - to - then the speaker will move out if not then you flip them around.. So then you hooke up the speaker so that then you put the positve to one ternaml and negitive to the other the speaker will move up towards the cabin area. So bacisly what you are doing is puting all the speakers in phase.

Go to the audio part of TN. They say you don't even need rear speakers. Just replace your front ones with a good set and it'll sound the best. and if you want rear speakers which aren't recommended......you can move the old ones from the front to back?

Gen 4 Camrys have 6x5's in the front and 6x9's in the back
first thing u have to do is take off the brake light and the headrests on the backseats u will need to pry off the molding on the sides of the back windows and i think there are a few screws ull have to take off on the back panel once all these are loose u need to take off a few more screws that holds the speakers
I know you meant this, but they are 6.5inch in the front and 6inch by 9inch in back.
I partially agree that the back are not needed but I like having a balance. I put a 30$ set in the back which are better than stock and a 80$ set in teh front.
Theoretically the backs can get lower, and if you dont have a sub (like me) that helps.

hmmm good job! If you get really good speakers with a lot of bass u'll have my problem of rattling. Funny how after dynamating my whole rear deck i discover that it was my roof that was rattling the whole entire time....
it's not that its not recommended...the sound is way better with aftermarket speakers, but the toyota designed speaker mounts specifically for the type of speakers they put in there and no aftermarket speaker will fit into it. So once your custom mount your speakers that are probably much more powerful you end up with a few problems.
I have stock speakers in my Gen4 camry and whenever i blast the speakers with bass set high, i get really bad rattling from the back. what's causing this and what can I do to fix this without changing my audio settings
your bolts for the speaker mounts mayhave gotten loose. tighten them. but to do so you'll have to remove a good amount of stuff. (same procedure as removing speakers).
or perhaps your celing trim is rattinling like in my car...
sit in the back and push up on the trim and see if it stops...
You don't need rear speakers? I replaced my front ones, and it sounded better. But when I replaced the back ones a few weeks later, the sound was much more round and it felt more complete.
