2nd Generation Add Driver's Airbag?

Hi All,

Is it feasible to add a driver's airbag system to a Gen2 Camry?

I understand that Toyota introduced a standard driver's airbag for the '92 model year Camry. Could that system be added to a Gen2? Swap steering wheels and add the crash sensor, etc

Thanks!

Google Search Results

A Google search turned up the following answer for S-series pickups and Blazers:

Quote:
Whatever you do - do _not_ try to retrofit an airbag into a vehicle. There's just too many items that have to be replaced, items that are very sensitive... In addition, you must also place & affix _all_ of the sensors, the control unit, etc.

Plainly put, if it didn't have an airbag to begin with, don't try to put one in.

Looks like the answer is no. Any Camry specific comments?

No. Cost you $10k (or some crazy high amount like that) to do it correctly. The Gen 2 was never designed for it, so it can not be easily/inexpensively done.
