Help! Headlight Harness Fried!

I ordered these bulbs off of ebay the XD5 5100K the guy claimed you didn't have to upgrade the harness or anything but today one of my bulbs stopped working and I went to check what the problem was and the bulb just came off and the harness was all melted away. Can anyone tell me where I can get better harnesses from online or should I just goto Toyota and get the same one tomm. I appreciate the input!

they are sweet bulbs and they lasted a while but I don't understand why it totally melted one side of the socket but the other bulb was perfectly fine.

They were probably the 85W/100W bulbs. Stock is only 45W/65W. If they were the high voltage bulbs, they drew too much current, and that is why the wire harness melted.

I have upgraded my lights from 55w to the xenon 90/100w and have had no problems, but I will keep a close eye on it. :-?
I did read somewhere that there is an alternater with higher output which I might look at getting to help aviod damage to the wiring.

Re: SUV lights harness

I just installed the SUV lights harness about two months ago, and I've been pleased so far. Seems like a quality piece, I noticed an improvement in light output from the harness. I've had installed Sylvania Silverstars before the harness, so I had gotten used to that level/quality of light, and then I noticed another incremental improvement from just the addition of the harness. I'm still toying with the idea of getting some 90/100W bulbs, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hope that helps in your decision...
