i'm so glad the Gen 5.5 uses white LED's in the gauge clusters. is it the same in the Gen 5's? anyways, i had a gen 4 and i was so sick of that halogen lighting with the green bulb covers over the 194's. it gave the dash a tired, green look.
but what I wish Toyota did was use the white LED color for the center console and factory radio as well. white light all around would've been tight. i got that idea after seeing my buddy's '05 Accord.
the lighting on my '02 is orange and i dont like it.
i want to change at least the cluster color but hesitant..my brother said if the odometer reading gets thrown off when taking apart the cluster, my extended warrantly will be void
^^ same here, the orange is really ugly, white or blue would look nice though
haha.. agree. I love the Gen 5 SE silver gauge cluster panal though. What's ugly is the amber, white, blue or even red would look better. The scheme on the Gen 6 is really nice though. Little bit off topic, even on the Yaris model, the top line RS model also has uglier orange display compare to bright white one on the base model.
I actually really like the orange of my gen5.5 SE.
What I hate, however, is that the nav illumination is green, the steering wheel controls are green, the seat heater buttons are green, ect.
I wish toyota could have been a bit more consistent.
The white of the LE and XLE is very nice. I thought about doing a cluster swap, if it weren't for all the work involved in changing everything else to white.
I wouldn't want blue. It is much harder on the eyes at night, and looks cheap imho.
Why don't you mod it then to make it how you want it ?
I tried putting green LEDs in the gauge, but the lighting became uneven - bright patch here, dark patch there. LEDs still can't quite shine equally well in all directions.
I know what you mean. I have a '00 and was doin an wntire red light scheme with the car and changed the bulbs with red colored bulbes. Those didn't work for more than a month before they started to fade, then I went LED. Chenging the bulbs arent hard and help you have more of an understanding of your car. And about the odometer, I don't think it will get messed up, mine didn't and i dropped my cluster by accident. Good luck though. I did the a/c controll too.. evrything looks awesome. I'll post pics later.

haha, I get what u mean. But I think white with blue can be nice, just like the Acura TL. The VW line up has blue gauge which is pretty good to the eye I thought, haha. The only blue gauge that I may not like is the one on Hyundai Elantra. No offense, but maybe that's the impression of the brand. They have been improving thogh.
