So today i was speeding to make a left hand turn, and while i was in the turn with an angle between 45~90 degrees. I pressed on the brakes, and the darn thing felt like it was going to fall apart on me. Like metal grinding on metal this is not the first time that when i make a turn and apply the brakes it feel like the whole thing is going to fall apart.
I have had the brakes inspected on numerous ocasions and nobody has said that they need replacing, but i can feel that the disks need resurfacing.
The car was bought used off of an auction, and i don't think the pads where ever replaced... so i would say that they are stock. ... Say i replace them.. what would be a good pad to buy?
Yes i do feel vibrations in the pedal aswell. It also feels like i'm not getting the regular slugish stopping put rather that i must apply more than normal. But b/c due to the odd feeling i don't and just get on & off the brake.
I don't have ABS so I haven't a clue what it feels like. However, I understand that you can disable it by unplugging it. The car then fail safes back to "regular" brakes. You could disable the ABS for a while and try the same cornering maneuver. If the vibration goes away (and returns when you plug the ABS system back in) then you know it is the ABS.

yeah, you could disable it, but it is NOT recommended. The whole purpose of ABS is to keep the brakes from locking the wheels up and causing a slide. If you're getting a metal on metal sound, and you haven't changed your pads, and even you think that the rotors need resurfacing, then it sounds like you have some brake maintainance to do. Go get some OE pads from the dealer (don't know about the new gens, but on gen4, aftermarket pads squeal), and DIY, or pay someone to do it.
i wouldn't recommend resurfacing... i did it and now my rotors are all warped and retarded... i'm still driving on them.. but going to replace them soon.

If you want to experience the ABS feel, you can do it more safely then doing a hard cornering.
1. Make sure you on an open road area, with NO cars what so ever. Actually you don't even have to go that fast.
2. Drive in a straight open country road (no houses, intersections, kids, cars, etc, etc), if the road is slightly wet, its even better. Go about 60km or so, then slam on the brakes.. The ABS will vibrate (pulsate).
Again, do this in a safe open road. try this at your own risk.
If you are still not sure, why dont you take it to a dealer and get a mechanic to drive your car, most places wont charge you, but of course, ask first if there's going to be a charge.
