Can driving over cones damage the bottom of my new Camry?

I'm very worried because today, I drove over a cone or two in a parking lot. I could hear it/them being run over by the bottom of my car. What's underneath a car? And could a rubber construction cone damage anything under there? I have a new '07 camry (very low to the ground.) It doesn't drive any differently from what I can tell, but I'm still worried.

If you are worried, bring it to a shop and check the underside. It's tough to say if you damagad anything based on the information you have given.

Hmmmm, you hit 2 cones in a parking lot??? . How did you manage to do that???? I assume you were going fast in which case more chance of damage if any. In any case, get it checked out. You paid 30 grand for that car (i'm assuming you bought the car), don't cheap out . have it checked it.

I doubt that there could have been much damange, but there is a possibility that some of the rubber could have melted if the car was warm enough. Anways, do what the guy above said, and get it checked out if you feel something is wrong.

I can understand one because maybe you didn't see it, but two cones? How did that happen?

you most likely didn't do any damage...aren't most cones flexible...if so then it wouldn't do much damage if any

Forget it.
Dont even waste time looking under the car. I have crashed over rocks and wood on heaps of dirt roads over the years in Australia. These vehicles are well protected and as for a plastic cone..........dont worry.

I just need to voice my opinion here about an issue i have with this type of thread...

[rant]

Why do you need to start a thread and ask about if cones did any damage to your car? Was anyone there? Sure we can give advice on things that MAY have been hit or whatever, but surely you could just jack the car up and have a look? I mean..it's not that hard to see...if a cone has damaged something, you'd notice it after a good look. And if you couldnt figure it out, then why not just take it to a workshop and getem to hoist it and see... it's like the "can i turn my o/d button off? will it damage my car" type of thread..just DO IT!!!

I dunno...i just don't get it!!!

[/rant]

I tend to agree. "Common Sense" would dictate if there is any damage. The only thing I would be "worried" about would be any plastic shrouds or spoilers underneath. Everything else would be steel and at there strongest (No corrosion) point since they are brand new.

hehe. Hopefully it was just one, but I couldn't tell. I parked next to a coned off parking spot and ran over a cone while backing out and driving away from the spot. but there were also random cones thrown all over the place.

Thanks. I was going pretty slow and they were only under there while I drove over them. I was afraid that the cones would have pushed or twisted things around...or pull down the exhaust system or something. I'm pretty paranoid. One time I drove a '97 camry off an average size curb(thinking it was a driveway) and couldn't sleep for a week because I was so worried about it. But that sounded truly awful when it happened.

Are you an 80 yr old woman? Driving over cones and curb jumping? Drive safe and check your car.

Yes you should check for damage if the cones had been made from concrete, otherwise I think you are worrying too much
