Sylvania 9005 light mod

Is there a particular reason why this mod only works on Ellipsoid cars and not other variations like generation 3?

Are you talking about using the high beam bulbs as the lows? If so all you have to do is shave off the little tab in the center of the inside of the socket so it'll fit.

The FAQ said it only worked for ellipsoid type headlights so it puzzled me as to why it would only work that way. I just tried the mod on my gen 3. They look about the same as the 9006 but nowhere near as bright as the high beams still. I guess I was hoping they would be as bright as the high beams even during normal driving operation. Are the high beams supplied more power than the low beams?

it's how they are aimed. There's a little tube that goes around the low-beams to give the light a place to go. That is what's holding you up. Don't worry.
