My parents made me get a family sedan. I was looking at the MR2 =/ so it came down to the Accord or Altima or Camry. Well we just found a used one that was pretty cheap and it was the SE. Looked good, leather seats with moonroof and 16" rims. It was cheaper than the accord and altima. I really was noob at cars back then.

At the time when I was buying my first car, it was between my first Camry and an Acura Integra. I didn't get the Interga because the transmission shifted like shit and the windshield of cracked all over. I'm really glad I got the Camry now anf I've been hooked ever since. This is now my second Camry and when I get a third one it'll be a XLE V6.
I fell into buying a Camry....I was ordering a Corolla LE and was tired of waiting for it to be put into production. The fact that the Camry I bought is an 2007 made the difference. I cannot stand the look of the 2006.
I am glad I did...except for the total MPG that the Corolla has over the Camry. Still it is a nice car. I drove it to work for the first time this morning (70 miles). In a rain storm. The headlights work great...better then my older Buick. Still why can't they make a car that you can crack the window with out all the water rushing in? I really didn't want to order Window Vent guards...looks like I am going to have too.
It handled pretty well all in all. I am still used to my Park Avenue's ride. The Camry can't compare to the Buick. Meaning the Buick will overall handle better...where the Camry takes getting use to.(It is lighter) It will drift on me a bit, where as the Buick will just "Drive it's self". Then again it isn't a fair comparision. The Park is in a class with the Avalon more then the Camry.
EDIT: I should also state that one of the main reasons for purchasing a Camry really falls HERE. The people in this forum are well informed, helpful, caring, and know your stuff. You have opened my eyes to the little know facts about Toyota's in general. I Tip My Hat to you ALL....Thanks!
EDIT TOO: Boy I can't stand to read my posts and find Typ0s...grrrrr

i decided on a Camry because i used to drive a Gen3 I4 as my first car, and it was very nice and reliable
i wanted something with a little more power but also being economical, so the Camry V6 fell into that category perfectly for me compared to whatelse is on offer here
also its a good size, not really big but not too small for my needs etc
also at the time i bought my car, the Gen5.5s had just been released, and i liked the look of the Sportivo models...
so thats why ive got the car i got now, and im very happy with the decision i made
I got my 01 LE V6 about a year ago, cuz the Accord V6s were too expensive, and had tranny problems. My camry has proven its quite a decent car, with a smooth ride, and i can keep up with IS300s, i also wanted a car that was good to pass down to my mom and brother when i get my real good car., this is safe, not flashy enough for people to steal stuff from, etc etc.
now that you guys bring this all up, its a pretty damn good car.
Ed

After my wife wrecked our Altima, I needed a car VERY quickly and I only had $2500. This was the best I could get. Also, on a tight budget, I wented a reliable car and the Camry has a good reputation.
I wanted to buy a car but only had $10K. My parents didn't want me buying a used car so they said they would help out with more $. Since they were paying part of it they had a say in which car to choose. We all agreed on the Camry. It was a '96 LE V6. It got totalled in '00.
In 2002, I decided to buy another Gen 3. It's a '92 LE V6. I've had nothing but problems since I bought it.
They last longer than some of Honda's cars... so if you had the choice between a 92 Honda Civic or Accord and a 92 Toyota Camry or Avalon what you pick?
I chose the camry because I had a 99 VW Passat b4 it. It was a great car but started to show frequent problem, so I decided to trade it in and hoping to try some japanese made car, my choices were between 04 Altima, Accord LX and Camry SE. The seat of altima is comfy, but I don't think it handles that well, plastic of the interior is a bit on the cheap side and not as quiet as the camry. Between Accord and Camry, I prefer camry for it smoothier and quieter ride, I don'think the SE handles bad or boring as some other people may have suggested. Also, I like the fact that for similar price, the Camry got 16" nicely designed alloy wheels and std. leather wrapped steering wheels and shifter and spoiler, while accord got 15 inches steelies and an "looks like undone" trunklid interior. Last but not least, I am 6 feet 5 and Camry has great front headroom. Even I got a I4, the power is pretty decent, I am not looking for sport car performance here, a comfy ride to drive my family and friends.
