i was driving my gen 3 camry and i didnt notice that my o/d button on my shifter was pushed out by mistake,i must of hit it by accident,i noticed my car had a little more pickup and my rpms werent going as high as normal.so i was just curious what does everyone usually drive in?? o/d pushed in or out??does it affect the car??give me some insight on this,
I usually don't use it when city driving, because everytime you let your foot off the gas a bit it jerks into overdrive and it's annoying.

O/D sends a signal telling your transmission to use the extra clutch pack, effectively letting you have a 4th gear (our transmissions actually only have 3 real gears). So pick one:
O/D on: You have 4 gears
O/D off: You have 3 gears
There's no difference in terms of acceleration.

yea with od off it will not let you go into 3rd gear but with od on you can get into 4th gear
Either you didn't understand or wrote your sentence wrong but re-read Darkmastyr's post.

Overdrive is there for fuel economy. I remember the 93-97 Corolla base models didn't come with O/D so had not so great fuel economy. With OD on, your car effectively runs on the highest gear. Not sure but the overdrive gear input to output ratio is 1:0.some decimal. With overdrive your car shifts up faster meaning your engine rpm doesn't hit high inefficient ranges but it sacrifices accelerating power.
Overdrive is great when ur maintaining a constant speed but when you want to accelerate, overdrive doesn't allow you to power up quickly. What ends up happening is you eventually downshift. Whenever I'm getting on the highway in my cherished 87 Camry LE, I turn off overdrive and show the new cars that my car still has a lot in it. By turning off OD the transmission doesn't shift into "4th gear".
Well, I dont know, with OD on, my car doesnt have a quick pull on 0-30. When I turn it off, my car loves to pull. Then as I get up say 55-60ish, I flip it on and keep going. Must be the headers
