Struts + springs are a good idea.

If you want to be able to adjust the height then coilovers is what you want.

There are no real coilovers for gen4s. Ground Control makes a set but they are just sleeves...not a real coilover unit. I would go with Tokico struts. If money isn't an object, get the TRD/Bilstiens.

so the Ground Control coilovers aren't "true" coilovers? but do they still function the same way as real coilovers? oh yeah, another question about the coilovers... i know that you can lower a car with the coilovers but is it possible leave the car at the regular factory height with the coilovers installed? can you raise the car?

They pretty much do the job but it doesn't perform as well as true coilovers. Yes the height is adjustable...but i don't remember if you can raise it to stock height. But yes, adjustable up or down.

In Asia, Tanabe has true coilovers for the Gen4 Camry, which is also compatible with the same years' ES300. I believe the line is called Sustec. Try your local stores to track them down if you're interested.

The reason why true coilovers work better is because the strut is designed to have proper amount of travel even when the car is lowered all the way. You won't bottom out as easily. And yes, you can raise it to stock height, maybe even higher.

I have a 92 that needs new suspension. I want to lower it about 1.5 to 2". What do I need? Springs? Struts (ones i have now are shot)? coilovers? I don't want to be able to adjust them just lower it a little.
Finally found a camry website that it worth looking at.
thanks guys

Welcome! The springs are what will do the lowering. However, aftermarket struts are recommended whenever installing aftermarket springs. Depending on how low you want to go, you have a few choices in springs: H&R, Eibach, Intrax. In terms of struts: KYB, Tokico, Koni. Go to these websites for more details and prices:
