Brakes issue?

I noticed once in a while I will stop at a red light and the brake pedal slowly starts falling thru to the floor almost...this has happened to me a few times before...this time when I stoped at the red light I had to keep my foot down on the brake harder then usual or the car would very slowly roll and the brake pedal sunk slowly like the other times. Once I started driving again I tested out the brakes and they were normal again thru the rest of the drive home. What can this be? The rotors were changed a little over a year ago...they are slotted but not drilled...the brakes were changed about 2 years ago...It was raining hard today...don't know if that has anything to do with it.

it's a 94 camry v6.

any help is always appreciated...thanks all.

Sounds like air in the lines or brake booster going bad.

If you have no brake fluid loss (check first) get a new master cylinder.

Yeah sounds like a bad master cylinder to me. They're not that hard to replace, just make sure you bleed the hell out of the brake system when you're done.

There is still 3/4 brake fluid...so I guess it's the master cylinder

Actually I'm having the same problem on my 95 V6. This happens maybe once a day, every other day or so. The car doesn't seem to loose traction with the brakes, but it does worry me none the less. I have no loss of fluid, and the person I bought the car from told me that the master cylinder had already been replaced twice because as he would put it "the brakes would go out, and you would just have to pump them a few times and they would work fine again". I have never had the brakes go out on me, and I checked them after I got the car last August. Since then I replaced the pads all around, and replaced the front right brake caliper bracket since one of the sliding pins was siezed. Also purged most of the brake fluid since it was a dark black in color.

I've been thur this, its most likely the master cylinder, which runs $150 OEM new. It also could be air in your brake lines or the brake booster, although less likely. My did then same thing, and then one day it almost had zero brake pressure. In my case it was the master cylinder. But the dumbasses at tire kingdom kept replacing it with a fake aftermarket one. This caused the brakelines not to bleed and also no brake pressure. Because of this, they had it for 3 weeks. Finally they towed it to toyota at their expense. Toyota put in a new OEM master cylinder that same day and it was ready in 1 hour. Toyota said that the camry brakes won't work with fake master cylinders. Dunno if it is true but it worked.
