4th Generation enigne rattle

Lately, when ever I put my car in reverse it sounds like the engine is rattling but when you put it in drive it basically goes away. Any idea what that might be cuase I'm stumped?
Since I've put my strut tower bar in it sounds more pronounced but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

You have a 5sfe, its not the smoothest of engines. It is very reliable, but there are smal rattles in it. Check your tranny mounts and engine mounts so to be sure

4th Generation

4cyl engines tend to rattle a bit more. Like jhbhatia said, check you're engine mounts. If its a Gen4 or less you may need to replace them.

Unlike a turbine or to a lesser extent a rotary engine, piston engines reciprocate and 4cyl engines inherently suffer from the most out of all other common engine configurations.

If this is something you've noticed lately, its probably a bad mount, if not then get used to a it. But remember, your 4cyl saves you on gas and maintence. A timing belt job on a 4cyl is a breeze compared to a V6.
