3rd Generation Need help with idle problem

I was charging the A/C on my wife's 93 camry 4 cylinder and the engine stalled out. When I started it back up it does not want to stay running. The idle jumps between about 300 and 800 rpm unless I hold the gas down to about 1000 rpm. When on the highway it seems alot more jumpy and starts surging every once in a while. Nothing else has been touched and it's probably a coincidence I was working on the A/C when this happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you overcharge it? My Paseo did the same thing when overcharged by a bit. Release some coolant and it'll settle down.

I thought that might be an issue. I checked it with a gauge and it looked fine. I went ahead and let almost all of the refrigerant out and it is still doing the same thing. I also checked the distributor cap and rotor and it looks fine as well.

Something similar happened to me but it turned out to be dirty/loose connection to my battery. Don't know if this will help you any.

Clean the butterfly in the throttle body. If that doesnt fix it remove the TBI (3 bolts on the 4 cyl) and unbolt the iac from the bottom and clean it with carb cleaner. Usually works
