Atleast I think I do. When I'm slowing down on the highway to an exit, the steering wheel shakes and yes I've seen better brakes so obviously they must not be rather low.
What is a good replacement? I would like a set that does not squeek.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
It could be anything from your tires out of balance (usually at speed though) to warped rotors. If you know anyone who is a mechanic I would let them test drive it if you are not familiar with stuff like this - or maybe give more details to help someone on here diagnose for ya.
if the vibrations only occur when braking and not just traveling then it isnt really a question of tire balance.
When you apply the brakes getting off the freeway, try them at light, moderate, and slightly heavier pressures. If you increase the pressure and vibration is felt through the brake pedal and eventually through the whole cabin including the steering wheel then you have warped brake discs. This does not mean your pads are low. To complete the test, after applying a good amount of pressure (not dangerously of course), release and if the vibrations stop right after, then its pretty much a brake disc warp issue. Take them into a shop right away. They could turn it and perhaps save you money and more labor on new Rotors.

Absolutely correct. You have warped rotors. If you feel the pulsation in the steering wheel, only when braking, it is one or both of the front rotors that are warped.
what is happening is what ^ everyone else said... think of it as the surface of mars.. there are alot of small 'crateors' and when the brake pad goes over it, your steering wheel will shake due to the uneven surface.. if you are lucky, all you have to do is have a mechanic resurface the rotors, but if it is bad, you might have to buy new ones.
Thanks guys... I guess I have to bring it to a mechanic to look at. The thing is, this doesn't happen all the time, I think its mainly when I'm applying the brakes at a moderate-heavy pressure slowing down from 60 mph.
