Canada driving with hose for air filter disconnected...

i've been driving for i think couple of months with the hose(small one) for the air filter that got disconnected. i'm not that much of a mechanic. I connected it back and also noticed at the time it was disconnected the oil consumption went very high. i am wondering if it was in connection with the hose being disconnected. need some advice. thanks a lot guys.

you are running that aftermarket intake tube?

like that one in the picture? Myself and others have had that small hose disconnected for months and notice no oil consumption what so ever.

the hose is located at the side of the air filter box or cabin, i think it is the intake for the engine. thanks for the reply.
