I don't know much about cars, but only about enough to get by. Anyways, I was heard that if you take out the resonator on your car that it can decrease gas consumption and i was wondering if that was true. If it is, then I was also wondering if I can remove my resonator without any long term problems or something along that lines. I searched the forums and I found that there was someone who dropped an intake is his V6 gen4 but there was a vacuum tube hanging around. And I was wondering what I should do with that if I were to remove the resonator. Oh, and I have a 1999 XLE V6 which is just about bone stock. Thanks in advance.

the resonator is inside the fender well btw. remove that and plug a big hose straight to the airbox for cold air intake :P

I removed my resonator from my gen4 v6 last week, i feel more torque, and it revs freer and faster now, that combined with the K&N filter i just added, it really increased my power by a good amount. when im on the highway, i can def feel the power gain, i can hit 80-90 easer than before.
Gas looks about the same so far, i'll let you know when i fill up, im trying to save gas too, im paying $3.20 for gas round here.
and one more thing, its almost as quiet without it, i took the resonator off my familys MDX, and u can definately hear the difference. the camry is only a little louder.

To take out the resonator do I have to take off the tire or can I take off the front bumper to uninstall it? If theres a DIY for a gen4 then that would be great

yeah im thinking thats what he meant but im not sure... itll get louder without the exhaust resonators but if you have stock exhaust it will sound fine, shouldnt be too loud
I just did my intake resonator today (gen 4.5), took me about 30min. I havn't driven anywhere since my housemate parked behind me. I figured if it doesn't help at least it doesn't hurt. And i did not have to take my tire off for it
I am just wondering, i have a dual exhaust set up on my 96 Camry 4 cylinder and a DIY cai, if i remove the resonator, will it get louder for my car in terms of performance and will i see some gain in power from doing so? i know many might say i have lost some power with a dual exhaust but i just had to get it.
i had to put a resonator on my 93 since the performance exhaust would make me get a yellow sticker from the cops guaranteed bein a probationary driver (just 2 bloody loud) and it took over my music and i noticed no decreases in performance when it was done.
I have a 1994 camry 4 cyl and i am trying to buy an intake hose and all of them have three holes in it, it goes from the air cleaner box to the throttle body and they are saying the third hole is for a resonator box. do i have to have the resonator box or can i leave it off and will it cause trash to go in the throttle body or do i need to cap it or put tape over it???I think the part stores are trying to double there money? HELP
