Had my brakes looked at today.

Turns out my rotors needed to be resurfaced again.... they were just resurfaced 16k miles ago. Anyway.... the guy told me Toyota had an issue on the Camry..... that toyota's rotors were too thick, causing the rotors to get too hot and warp really easily. Is this true? He said they have now fixed this issue, but is this true? BTW- i didnt take the car to toyota. But if my rotors are gonna need to be resurfaced routinely, is there anything i can do to fix this problem?

thanks
Sean

And i say "just 16k miles ago", because my 2000 Camry LE V6 was purchased new on Sept. 3, 2000.... and now the odometer reads 72,520. Yes, commuting to work sucks..... So 16k miles ago was like less than 6 months ago.

i'd say just get some aftermarket rotors....may as well, since you'll be blowing money anywayz....and this way they'll look nicer too!

If they tighten the lug nuts too much it can cause the rotor to warp.

Next time when you tighten them tell them to torque it to the correct amount. (Sorry I forgot the number, maybe someone can look it up in Haynes.)

Right, I smoked (literally) all 4 of my brakes 3 months ago at track days and they still haven't warp yet.

And by theory, thin rotors get hot easier, not thick rotors (of the same diameter).
