4th Generation Spark Plug Wires..

Sup guys..

I was thinking about changing my Spark Plug Wires....

Should I stick to OEM Wires or is there a good aftermarket set of wires I should consider..??

It's a 1998 Camry, V6, Japan Sedan...

Thanks..

hmm is there a DIY for this online somewhere? If not could you please do a DIY when you change yoru plugs/wires? I'd like to do the same soon.

I think if you are running everything else OEM, i'd stick with brand new oem wires. They do the job quite well, and last very long as you already know.

You can get NGK wires. They are the same as stock but they are blue color.

I really don't think wires make a huge difference. They conduct - that'a all they do. As long as the resistance is withing specs (and it sure is for any aftermarket brand) they should be fine. Durability could be different though.

That is the key! I always go OEM no matter what brand of car I am working on. I have seen too many AutoZone specials go out after 20-30k.

Funny you say that. Yesterday my car started to stutter and hesitate. this morning I checked a couple of basic things, but I didn't figure out what was wrong in an hour, so I took it to a mechanic. Guess what. My wires are broken. Autozone specials only after 13000 miles, 2 years.

Magnacore are the best you can probably find for your car, but are costly. Ive read that there is no need for them unless your blown or have got some substantial mods done. NGK's are a good oem replacement that is probably cheaper than getting them from the dealer and are purtier since they are blue! I got mine from www.sparkplugs.com

how exactly does a not too new member drag this up from the murky deep? well either way, I couldnt even get ngk wires in my town.....I tried. The wires I got were $40 and considering my old wires were original, yes, original 130k mi, 16yr old wires, well I'm not too worried. The car runs better than it ever has, since I've owned it.

What's wrong with bringing up an old topic? I see no rule about this... the very reason for me to bring this up was that I remembered I made a post about "doesn't matter what wires to use" and apparently I was wrong. When I made that first post, my wires were brand new Autozone wires, and two years later they are broken.

Is it more appropriate to start a new topic? If yes, why isn't it in the "Forum rules" topic?
