a/m/performance...sorry bad typing there...i meant "aftermarket" or "performance"
The liquid filled mount i think is to control torque. At the time, it seems the didn't realise how much better they were and went for normal rubber mountings. The Gen 3 has liquid mounts..so i guess, is smoother. Maybe you can use Gen 3 mounts?

Good idea JetspeedCamry!
OK, has anyone ever used Gen3 liquid mounts on a Gen2???

The front mount (near the radiator) is the hydraulic mount on the gen3. It will NOT bolt into a gen2 - not even close. It also requires a different side mount (near the timing belt). What's funny is that all the gen3 guys who are into performance want the gen2 style mounts...
Keep you motor is good shape and it won't be too bad for vibration. OR by a newer/nicer car - you will spend more money getting an old Camry to new OEM fit/finish/smoothness than it would cost to just buy a newer car.
I'm wondering where you come up with all these crazy ideas?

So the grass is greener on the Gen2 side after all - cool!

#6. Controlled NVH — Cars like the Acura Integra Type R or the Toyota Celica GT-S are a riot when canyon carving on your favorite twisty road. However, you must decide if you really want to deal with the noise, harshness and vibration that come from these pocket rockets day in and day out. When test driving, note the amount of engine noise, and the level of vibration the motor emits. Liquid-filled engine mounts really make a difference in this respect.
