I'm confused as to what brand of timing belt to buy. Would oem be better than aftermarket? i had a friend that snap his aftermarket belt 40,000 miles later. Would it be best to buy oem or is there a better high quality brand out ther and what brand is it? lmk
If you have an engine with no mods, stick with OEM. Like what Eye8Pussies said, an OEM is good for stock. If you have a modded engine, then get aftermarket. OEM would probably be best because they cost less and they do last long.
I have plenty of stuff done to my car but I would only put Toyota fluids, belts, seals, etc. They cost more for a reason, Toyota doesn't put their name on shit. I feel their parts are as reliable as their cars. Also if anything did fail prematurely Im sure they would stand behind their product. Jon.
Go with a quality aftermarket belt like Dayco. Less expensive but may actually last longer than the OEM. I race Dayco belts on a GT-1 Camaro in SCCA for a reason: they make the best belts and hoses!
