2GR-FSE in the SE??

How is it different than the 2GR-FE? Does the S mean supercharged?
Is that what the 2JZ-GTE means? 2JZ-GE with turbo?

No idea what S in FSE stands for.

F = head design. Narrow valve angle.
E = EFI (electronic fuel injection)

Z in the engine code = supercharged. IE: 4A-GZE.
T in 2JZ-GTE = turbocharged.

S = swirl pot pistons and direct injection

2GR-FSE is only in the IS350.

No, you've got it all wrong. Your block is the 1MZ. Only the after the dash are when the letters mean something. 1MZ = block, F = narrow valve angle, E = fuel injected. 1MZ-FE.

If you had a 1MZ-FZE, then you'd be supercharged.

Scionlife is wrong. The '07+ V6 models only come with the 2GR-FE, just like the Avalon. Only the IS350 comes with the 2GR-FSE.

swirl pot piston:

basically a piston design in which the piston has contours on it that allows the directly injected fuel to "swirl" around the chamber, producing a better mixing effect and therefore better and more complete combustion. Swirl design is one of the most important aspects when designing an engine with direct injection since the fuel is not premixed.
