Is it safe to drive daily without the overdrive as long as you're going under 45 mph? Is the acceleration faster as well if you drive without overdrive on and does it also get you better gas mileage?

Thanks

Its much better to keep your overdrive on all the time it will save gas and willmake your engine rev less.

It is to control whether or not the transmission shifts into the 4th (final) gear. It is good to have it ON when you are juts coasting... it saves gas by keeping the revs lower in the highest gear. You might want to turn it OFF when you are passing on the highway, or are going uphill... to give you more pull and save your tranny some work.
