fitting rims....??

how the hell do u fit 8" wide wheels onto a camry w/o rubbing?? i had 18x8s on for a while and i had to put spacers cuz the back ones would rub on the shock but then the wheel is more out making it rub on the car when i hit a bump. i've seen ppl w/ 20s and i dunno how the hell it doesnt rub.

You should roll your fenders. Also for future reference, when buying rims you'll want to know the offset you need and the rim width your fender will fit (you should be able to fit 18x8's but I would go with 18x7.5's . I have 17x7.5 and it fits with no issues, but then i also have the proper offset for my car), and when asking questions it would help if you included what year, or at least generation, camry you have.

gen 4 98 camry le. the rims werent mine tho i borrowed them cuz my friend had them on his 99 avalon, anyway yea i know 8s arent for camrys im looking into 7.5" offset but it's hard to find big rims w/ that width.

I have a 97 Camry with 18x8's and a 40 mm offset. They fit fine, no problems.
Try searching - there are a bunch of threads on this, including one of mine.

18x8 w/ +35 offset and lowered on coilovers. No issues.

No. Offset is the distance of the mounting hub from the centerline of the wheel. It's the final characteristic of a wheel, and one that most people forget.

There are three important aspects to selecting a proper wheel
1. Diameter
2. Width
3. Offset

If your 8" wide wheels were rubbing, your offset was probably too high, maybe +50mm.
