Gentex Homelink Mirror

I'm getting one of the gentex mirrors with compass and temp and map lights as one of my graduation presents. I see no reason for it to not work in my 98 4cyl LE.

However, there could always be something i didn't think of....so i'm asking you guys...

It should work...right?

It should...

Although when I bought mine on Ebay the seller needed to know if my Camry was a 97-99 or a 2000-01. I'm not sure if there are significant differences.

Yes, mine fit perfectly- but apparently the seller shipped me the "97-99 specific" version.

I can't imagine it would be much difference. I just had to tap into the wire that connects to the radio under the dash, run the wire up the A-pillar, then up underneath the headliner.

It should come with pretty specific instructions. Here's some info from a post I made here in 2005:

For my 1998 Camry:

-Carefully remove original mirror.
-Remove sunvisors, which allows you to slightly remove very front of headliner.
-Remove A-Pillar trim on driver's side.
-Remove trim under stearing wheel, and trim near the doorjam
-You splice into the wire that comes off the ignition switch (that turns on the radio and other stuff that comes on when the key is in the 'on' position.
-The wire runs from under the steering wheel, up the driver's a-pillar, into the headliner, and then down the center of the windshield to the mirror, behind the small little trim piece that comes with the mirror.

I think mine took like a hour or so to install, maybe a hour and a half.

Enjoy. It's a cool little accessory.
