Well I finally got a break in the crappy weather yesterday... if just temporarily, so I decided to go ahead and take out my throttle body and clean it. So I read my Haynes manual and started disconnecting hoses and electrical connectors and then unbolted it. I had it just about off except for the two bottom hoses (water-bypass hoses) when I realized I had bought the wrong cleaner... as I read the instructions it said do not use on fuel injected cars...guess I wasn't paying attention when I bought it... was only looking for something safe to use with oxygen sensors and catalytic convertors. I also realized the throttlebody gasket was shot. crap. Then it started to drizzle so I quickly put everything back together for another time.

Anyways some tips/things I noticed....
-the throttlebody can look clean on the outside or front of the butterfly valve and be filthy on the inside
-remove the air cleaner hose/resonator completely, it will just continue to get in your way
-always read labels carefully
-always buy gaskets for whatever you plan to do... they are cheap and easily replaced
-i found it useful to leave my strut bar on, it didn't interfere with anything and it gave me something to lean on/hold onto when leaning over the engine bay or loosening nuts and bolts.
-i used a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the stubborn hoses, I would use one side to pry between the hose and pipe and run it past the pipe to break the seal I guess or whatever...it worked for me
-label everything properly... take a white piant pen and make a little mark on each hose/connection about five minutes before you start then go back with a sharpie and label everything
-try to remove the two bottom hoses (water bypass valves) first...i tried to remove them last and i couldn't
that's about it. i'm sure some of it is just common sense, but i'm still learning

. i also noticed that the inside of the intake manifold was also extremely filthy... it was kinda oily, where as the buildup on the throttlebody was solid. How can I clean that out? Thanks for the help and i hope these points help.
