Gen5 cloudy bulbs, what happened?

for those with Gen 5's or 5.5's...

about 1-2 months after i got my new car, i noticed that the high-beam bulbs (9005) were cloudy. i took a closer look and there was this yellow-brown film on the inside. the bulbs still worked but the lenses had this horrible color. i think they were OEM Sylvanias before i threw them out. i replaced them with some GE's. the new bulbs havent turned color so far after 2 months.

anyhoo, i saw another Gen 5 in a parking lot and noticed its 9005's had the same discoloration. i'm guessing they were the stock bulbs too. what went wrong with those bulbs?

it's my impression that the low voltage used for DRL does that to the bulbs. That's why i keep my DRLs off, i'd rather have my silverstars last longer than waste them on DRL. If I want people to see me better during the day, i just turn on the lowbeams.
