2nd Generation Side view mirror "glass" removal

Does anyone know how to remove the "glass/mirror" part from the side view mirrors on a Gen 2? Mine has cracked and i need to replace it, but i dont want to have to replace the entire housing, since its painted the same color as the car etc etc .

They are the fold-in/electric style ones.

Thanks

Most are held by double stick tape. Should be able to pry it off. Some just stick replacement over the old one. (These can be found at some auto parts stores or a glass shop.)

I got a replacement piece cut for mine.. Cost me $1.50 for a piece of glass cut.. I then just glued it on... Remember the words "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" wont be in effect if you get a piece of glass cut.. A big money saver and time saver if you want to do it fast and cheap...

MM thanks for the prompt replies!

i didnt think of getting a piece cut!

On the Gen 2, both sides are the same AFAICT....they didnt have the "object in mirror appear closer etc etc". But yeah...getting a replacement mirror isnt an issue, as plenty of wrecking yards have mirrors...but i just want to get it off without breaking it. If i can't get it off...ill take the whole assembly to a mirror/glass shop.
