i have a 92 toyota camry Se with the 3.0 V6 in it. I start college in July but would like to make some slight modifications. My question is does anyone know where to find small enigne mods for my car or even body bods. i found a few body kits and thought about doin a hood swap.( found the idea on car domain) something else is a gain i will be start'n college so money is kind of an issue. any help would be appreciated.
Well, you say money is an issue. So first you need to decide what you want to do, performance or show parts only? If money is an issue and you do both, you'll be able to do very little. If you choose one, it'll be easier for us to help you.
If you want to do show, start with lowering and rims, depo clear headlights, custom grill, tint, etc.
i'd like to do looks first. Exterior and interior first. thankx for the advice. the other thing is i can't find to many kits for my car. i found an evo kit that didn't look to bad. but i can't really find an aggressive kit. i found one that i liked i think it was the swift kit but don't really remember. I graduate in June so hopefully i'll start doin some stuff then. I'm try'n to find a lowering kit for my car. i found some on ebay but one of the companies i've never heard of.
so i dunno yet. what would u recomend for lowering if u have a body kit on.
Like Milton said, the RMM front lil for the Gen 3 looks badass, do a search here and you will find a few cars with it on. And if you have the money go for 18" or 19" rims, if you don't have that much money then go with the 17".
As far as lowering, it depends on the ride you want. There's a sticky thread here with all the available options as far as springs (H&R, Eibach, Dropzones, KSport, etc) and struts (Tokico, KYB, etc.) and the drop and ride quality you will get.
It's very important that you search the forum before you make any questions, since most of the stuff has been covered already. If you ccan't find it, then go ahead and make a new thread.
From one college student to the next I say you should save all the money you would be spending on modifications and spend it on ridiculously priced gas, along with most of us this summer.
don't waste your money on a body kit and wheels. you may have a good looking car but it will ride like a rock and the cost of those three, wheels, tires, and a body kit are not for someone on a budget. just think if you were to bend a wheel or blow a tire or crack a part of your body kit. save your money and maintain your current car. se's are rare, especially if its a 5 speed.
^ amen 92 SE's are RARE!!!! i envy you... but on the otherhand, if you want at least a short ram intake, go to autozone, or pepboys, and get the mass air flow sensor adapter (MAF) adapter, and get a 3" hole cone filter, that will give you some sound+ a bit of performance, also if you have a bit of $$$ get an exhaust system (custom Y pipe, sooner or later, -at least a muffler, magnaflow or something) just dont disgrace us with rice.
good luck!

-1992 Camry V6 XLE- *3VZ-FE* (with a dead auto trans.) <SOLD! Newest addition- 1987 300zx Turbo! what a blast!
hey- I myself am a student and I just picked up a '92 SE. It's already pretty quick, just needs an update in styling. Best bet would be to add some rims and tint the windows.
Search for 3vz-mods and you will come up with some, even free ones!
Its a 92, so I'd consider getting a good tune up (dull as it sounds) and performing maintenance so the car lasts you for 4 yr.
Timing belt if it needs it; trans flush, fuel filter, plugs, maybe tires.
Modifying the body is like a snowball going downhill. You will just wind up spending more and more.
1. it had 38,442 orignal mile on it
2.it was owned by an older couple
3.I bought it for 500 bucks
4.i put in about another 500 for changing the fluids, filter and a new altenator also new tires just have to get back ones now
5. it had been sitt'n since 04 (about)
6. unfortunatly it's an automatic
so theres some history on the car. I appreciate ur guy's advice tremndously.i'll try and post pics soon. I graduate at the end of May so i'll hopefully be able to do some mods then. If ur ever in the alton ill area hit me up or i'm moving to Glendale heights which is about 20mins away from downtown chicago in July. so hopefully get to meet some of u guys. again thankx
with that price, you should consider yourself lucky. i bought my se wrecked with a slipping clutch for $800 and i thought that was a deal, lol. maintain that sucker and it will definatly take care of you. mod it(incorrectly and shade tree style) and rice it up and as stated above, it will create a snowball effect and you will have problems and begin to detest the car.
thats what i was plann'n on. and just hold off on the kit for a lil bit. the way i got my car was my grandpa works for a senoir community village and the husband has alhimerz and the wife is starting to get it. so they stopped driv'n the car. so i was really lucky and i plan on keep'n the car for a while. has anyone hear ever heard of UTI that's where i'll be attending school study'n automotive and diesel. i'm gonna talk to a lady who is coming to my graduation (who is like my mom) and talk to her about either rims or a lowering kit. still work'n on getting pics.
