Has anybody change their complete exhaust system?

1996 CAMRY DX... 5 speed.. 4 doors..

Is it easy? Hard?

I plan to change my entire pipe from the exhaust manifold to the muffler...

Any tricks?

Advises?

Do u advise against it?

Thanks..

======================

UPDATE...... I called the dealer... to find out prices.... The front pipe alone is $1100.. Every thing all together will run about $2000 in parts only........

Did you guys know exhausts were this expensive?

I asked him if I should go to Auto Zone for aftermarket and he said that I should not be going there...

The dealer told me to take the car to an EXHAUST mechanice and have him repair it for you...

My exhaust is not bad.. the CONVERTER (metail piece right at the end of first pipe where the engine ends and the compartment starts.. ) seems to be RATTLING when I start car just a little.. and my exhaust was rusty so I decided to change the whole thing. i thouhgt it would be like $300.00... but $2000.00 ????

God have mercy...

Might as well put $2000 down for a 2007 Camry... LOL !!

$200 for an aftermarket cat.

dont worry about rusting exhaust.

and yes LOT AND LOTS of us have aftermarkte exhausts, mainly for performance or sound (SEARCH).

and did you really expect an answer in 2 hours?

1996? get aftermarket. forget the dealer for $2000. do it yourself or purchase parts yourself and have someone do it for you. and u dont need special tool. gasket, header, cat. converter, muffler... toyotapartstore.com.
maybe all you need is just the hanger (rubber thingy - $4.14) to stop the rattling.

for me.. no.. I just changed the muffler, I like the looking and the sound and don't want to spend much money on that.

The dealer would be trying to sell you a genuine part, non geniuine would be about $200-300. Installing shouldnt be that hard. Ive done it myself and the only problem i encounterd was that it was a bit fiddly getting the pipe in and out.
