well i got offered an incredible deal on my choice of wheels with tires from a friend
fno1r (forged) for cheap (cant say how cheap cuz it will shock ya) BRAND NEW with some advan neovas
my two questions are and im fairly sure they do, is
1. 17x8 38+ offset should fit with no problem if im not mistaken.(i have 19x8 same offset)
2. which tire size would be better 225/45/17 or is there a better option..
also the car is a 97 toyota camry on jics so i doubt there iwll be any strut rubbin there...

I think they will fit fine, im currently trying to put 17X8's on my Gen4, but they are stock TL rims with a +45mm offset. they dont rub up front, but they definately rub in te rear against the strut. im waiting to finish finals before i put on extended wheel studs, and a pair of 8mm spacers.
Im wearing 235/45/17 bridgestone Turanzas, if you lived closer, id offer you them as spares. the traction i get out of them is terrible, im only gripping better because im sooo much wider than the 15X6 i had stock
and about the size, i think the 235/45/17 fits well, very square and aggressive looking, you can be bold and go for 245/40/17. and now im curious, do you already have tires on them, or are you getting them? i hear great things about continentals contiextremes
and another general question, would having bigger/wider rims damage any crutial engine/drivetrain/suspension parts?
post pics when the project is done, hopefully ill do the same

^ no, they won't damage any components unless the offset is REALLY wrong and the tires stick out far beyond the front wheel well- then there's more strain on the steering/suspension
and the reason why the tl wheels don't fit your rear is not because of the offset or width, since alot of people run the same specs, but because your tires are too wide
and 245/40/17 is a good bit off stock spec, I wouldn't recommend it
as well, if you go with the sizes that you've suggested/have, then it nullifies the whole point of having big rims and low-profile tires- you may as well downgrade to a 16" for the same look

hehe i thought u guys read, the tires are included.. for lets say under 700 bucks brand new for the whole package.. iwont go into how low but yeah..
im more than likely going with the 225/45.17s due to rubbing issues i had in the rear (unless i roll my fenders) its still a possiblity, but we will see as im not pickin them up till next month...
thanks guys

FN01R's and Advan Neovas are frickin' awesome. 225/45/17's should be fine. Do you have a 4cyl or a 6cyl? I know on the Gen3's, the V6's had *slightly* larger diameter tires.

Go with the 225s. You wont fit 215s on 17x8s. The rim is far too wide.
As long as the wheels stay inside the wells you wont have any worries. I had wheels that went outside of the wells, and I had constant suspension/steering problems. Get the right offset and you will be fine.
The V6s came out with 15inch standard. The I4s only had 14s.
Cheers.
