Hey. I have a 2005 Camry SE 4 cyl. automatic. I was talking to a friend about supercharging my car with the TRD kit for autos because they recently came out with one and I was wondering if I would have any issues besides the placement of the hoses under the hood? I know the ECU of the Camry is different than the ECU of the Scion tC. Would I have any problems with this or will the ECU be fine? Also, I know i need the supercharger and hoses, but is there anything else that I will need for this install? Or should I buy the TRD S/C kit and do the install from there?

well the real question is how much diffrent can the tc ecu can be. the core of it is the same, uses all the same sensors and there is basicaly nothing diffrent with the engines (didnt got vvti-l on the tc) so more or less your looking at a diffrent wireing harnest. splice and go. and you can go with the smt-6 or smt-7,

^ and leaving it that way!
^There is VVT-i on the tC. And you'd be surprised how much different it can be. Its not as simple as splicing that harness.. its definitely going to need an aftermarket EMS.

yea but the question is i have a piggy back which is the PE Camcon and the Greddy EManage is the exact same(a piggyback) so will that be enough? and i called TRD and there were dumbasses saying that it was strictly made for the tC and i have known this since it came out

I'm pretty sure that the physical ECU is actually the same unit, but the Scion's ECU is supposed to have different fuel mappings on it or something.
Now, I'm pretty sure that the TRD supercharger for the tC requires the ECU to be reflashed anyway with new mappings. So why don't you just go ask your local dealer or something about whether they can flash the tC supercharger flash onto your Camry ECU?
The only thing I'd really be concerned about is the differing transmission gearing-does the ECU talk with the transmission? If so that might cause some problems. If not, then you're golden.
Weasel, I was looking at the s/c on the tC's at ToyotaFest... and it looks like it should fit fine. The only thing is is you'd have to custom make an intake. That looks like it was the only hose that you needed.
