3rd Generation vsv question *PIC*

ok. i finally saw my vsv. so, here is the picture of my vsv. well, i think they are vsv's. that black object that is connected to the vsv is loose. i was able to pull it off with ease. question: is this suppose to be able to come off? the other black part connected with the other vsv doesn't come out. i could've pulled harder but i wasn't sure if i was suppose to pull in the first place. sry about the quality, its from my phone.

p.s. my CEL is on with "71" code, egr system. could something like this cause the CEL to come on? would i have to replace this? how much would it cost? you help would definately be apreciated. thank you.

get the hanes or chiltons manual and it will tell you how to test it to see it is messing up

i dont' have those manuals, but i do have the PDF file that can be downloaded from the stickies. the engine that they have is the 3mzfe, but mine is the 3vzfe. i heard that they are similar.

in my manual, it showed me how to do the test on the vsv by blowing on it. the question is, how do i test the other one? on my manual, they only have one vsv on the engine. if you look at my picture on the top of this thread, mine have two. how do i check that one?

another thing. i checked the egr modulator, when i blow on it, the air does go through. but there seems to be some resistance. the manual says that it should flow freely. is there a way to clean/fix this? or would i have to replace it? how much do these cost?

3rd Generation

Go to autozone.com, you can access many parts of the haynes manual for our cars (92-96) on there now, if not the whole thing (I haven't checked it all out yet).
