new one on me... wtf happened to my strut?

okay, so my passenger front strut was klunking and sounding really bad after work today, I came home from work and saw this when i jacked it up to change my oil:

the friggin nut came off of the strut! I had a shop do the suspension a little less than a year ago, so I guess they never torqued it well enough or something. It isnt damaged, just came unscrewed. What all is involved for me to fix this? do you think i will need a spring compressor? thanks, I want to fix this asap.

yeah all i did was position the car on the jack so that the strut fell back in and tightened the nut back up- it took some finessing to figure out where the jack should be but it wasnt bad at all...

Im going to keep an eye on it for a week or so just to make sure it stays, if not Ill have to throw some threadlock on it.
