So I bought my 03 used, when I got it, I realized that if I had the headlamps on, and then opened the door, I didn't get a beep like most cars do warning me the lights were still on.
So I figured the old guy that drove it before me used one of the "press the pedal 16 times, open and close your door 45 times, and start the car 3 times before pressing the roll window down button 54 times." and turned it off...
but by accident, I left my lights on the other day when I parked in the street so I could pull the other car out of the driveway (to make room) and when I walked back up, my lamps were off... front and back, and nothing inside... but if I turned the thing to off (or DRL) and then back on, the lights turned back on..
so I tested again, after pulling the car in, I left my lights on, and a couple minutes later they turned off..
so does this mean at night, if I park, can I leave my lights on and they auto-shutoff, and when I turn the car back on they turn back on?
does this run the battery dead?
do all camrys do that?
I know they don't automatically turn on, but do they automatically turn off?
^Auto-shutoff only works if you lock your doors. If you leave your doors unlocked, your lights will stay on. And none of the Camry's beep to tell you that you left your lights on.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
mine turns off 30 seconds after all doors/trunk are closed regardless if they are locked. I park mine in the garage, never need to lock the doors and never turn off my lights manually. I've not had any problems with it yet.
You can also try this... close your doors (all of them). Press Lock once to lock the doors, and within 30 seconds, press Lock again - the lights should all turn off after the 2nd press.

Killed my battery once because I armed the alarm before my passenger shut their door, so the doors locked/unlocked/relocked.
Since then I make it a point to turn them off manually.
Still wish I could make the car scream if I don't.
hey, looks like you have the exact same car as I do... is it the same color (your sigs a little dark..) got any other pics? I wants some ideas as to what to do with mine

Yep Mine does that too, even if I open the door before I remove the key. If I remove the key then open the door, I can use the keyfob to lock it twice and turn off the lights.
My Camry, if I lock door manually and get out of it then press remote, it will turn off lights. If I get out of my baby without locking doors, then press remote, first press will lock doors and second press will turn off lights. If leave the lights on, will turn off by itself within 30 sec.
Yep, mine too. I"ve had people tell me when I get out of the car, "Hey, you left your lights on." (I usually only click the remote once, because I know they shut off after 30 seconds)

'94 Camry LE. IDK, that minty green color that looks silver in a pic, until you see the car, and it's actually green.
Seeing as how this has been discussed before, try a simple search the next time.
But as already stated, in 2002-2007 Camry's, if you look at any brochure or any website that gives specifications on the car, it will say "Halogen Multi-Reflector Headlamps with Auto-Off". 2005-2007 Camry's will add "Auto-On/Off". That means that there is a timer-delay on the lights (mostly designed for people with driveways that lead up to the front door to light up the area for safety and security) that will automactically shut off the lights after 30 seconds. It is not harmful to the battery if you do this daily, it is mentioned in your owners manual. The only time you dont want to do this is if you are going away for an extended period of time. Then you should make sure you manually turn the light switch to "DRL" or "DRL Off" (or "Auto" for people with 2005-2007 Camry's). 1997-2001 Camry's do not have the time-delayed auto-off feature. They have a simple auto-off feature where if the door is opened with the ignition off, the lights will turn off immediately. 2005-2007 Camry's have an "Auto-On" feature as well so if you get home at night your low-beans will be on and shut off automactically. But in the morning when you turn the car on, the DRLs will come on if you have the lights set to "Auto" and the low-beams will be off.

exactly what happens on my 04 SE too. I think is a great feature. People said I forgot to turn off the light, but I think the 30s delay is designed for people walking from garage into their home. It's a Camry, it deserves such automatic function.

My headlights turn off automatically while I have my doors opened or unlocked. It stays on for thirty seconds and turns off. Alarm on or off. If you press the alarm twice, it turns off. My dad's Gen 5 turns off by itself when the alarm is on. But my Gen 5.5 doesn't need to be.
