3rd Generation Gauge Install Question

I am wondering if I can tap into the wires from the sending units for my o2, water temp, and oil pressure to use when setting up my own gauges. Does anyone know if this causes problems? Do all gauges use the same power signal from sending units, or are they all different?
THANKS!

You have to use the sensors that are made for the guages that you are using. Otherwise, it would be to easy.

a/f guage you can tap the 02 sensor.... oil pressure you have to hookup a new sensor because the stock one only reads if it's under 4psi or something to turn on the oil light..dunno about water temp

If the gauge for water temp is electronic, it'll come with a sender.

You need to drill and tap a hole for this sender. I'd drill and tap into the water neck the upper radiator hose connects to.

The sender looks something like this:

So for anyones future reference... I had to replace original the oil pres. sending unit with the one that came with the gauge and I needed to buy thread adapters for it to fit.
For the water Temp sensor, I spliced into the existing unit HOWEVER the signal travels through the "path of least resistance" and so you cannot display the water temp on the stock gauge as well as the aftermarket by using 1 sending unit.
