I know there was some debate on the effects of acetone and milage. I just saw a mythbusters where they tested this on a Gen 3 4Cly Camry. Their results showed no improvment on milage.
Not really surprised. If something as simple as acetone could increase mileage, Home Depot wouldn't be able to keep the shelves stocked....
Honestly, I didn't see the episode so I don't know what the conditions are but I and several other people have used acetone with very noticeable increase in response and gas mileage, I can actually get anywhere from 35-37mpg using a little less than 3oz of pure acetone in a full tank of gas.
I did a 2000km test using acetone on my stock(ish) 3rd gen Camry and got no significant changes either... but I've heard from people some good results on other cars..
I think it has to do with how efficient the engine is.. IE bigger displacement 6-8 cyl engines seem to see the most benefit...

there have been threads on this before, guys.. it has worked pretty well for me personally.. my highest jump was after my first treatment, 60% increase at 29 mpg.. yea my mpg was pretty pitiful beforehand, (i have some mods) and this helped alot. there are other cars which dont seem to have much benefits tho, namely an xrunner, new school corolla, and i believe kevin's cressida.
its been 6 months since ive done my last treatment, and im currently at 26 mpg (75% city).. pretty dayam good for 6 oz per tank, 6 months ago. because of gas prices, my miles per $1 is going down (gas prices), but for me, acetone has been good.. even on my 190k mi 5sfe.
by the way, my jump in mpg came after i stopped putting acetone in, so GrantTPC you may need to give it some more time during use and then let it do its thing..
