I got my 03 Camry LE in May 2005. Since May, I have been in two accidents. One in November and one less than an hour ago. Neither incident was my fault but my Camry has suffered some dings and scratches in the process. In the first incident, a car backed into my car while my car was sitting still with me and my fiance' in it. I ended up with a nice dent in my rear driver's side door. In the latest incident, a car with bad brakes apparently ran into my rear end when I stopped for another car turning in front of me. Then the car behind him hit him which prompted him to hit me again (A three car accident and 2 blows to the back of my car). I just ended up with a scratched up rear bumper though I thought I had a lot worse. In respect to the guy who hit me, the car in front of me made a very abrupt stop.
But I'm starting to wonder, am I just unlucky or does this happen to others as frequently as it has happened to me. Thank God, I have insurance.
Accidents happen to everybody. There's no set pattern. Some people can drive 10 years and have none, while others may have one every 6 months regardless of fault.
As I've gotten older, I'm finding myself driving more and more conservatively and generally try to avoid areas where a lot of cars converge.
Though the damage is shared, just be glad you're not the cause of the accident. You'll be feeling a lot worse, like jacked up insurance rates that you'll be paying for over and over....

I was hit twice in the same spot, in a 6 month period of time. Both times my car wasn't moving at all and was turned off.
One of them, I was parked and a FedEx truck scratched my passenger side front quarter panel and bumper. The other one happened 6 months later when I was already parked, to get some gas, and as I'm about to get out of the car, some asshole in a 1980's Ford pickup wanted to get gas before me and rammed his pickup on to the passenger side front quarter panel and bumper of my car. Making the dent that was there bigger, and then when I get out of the car and start arguing with him, he decides to back up and apparently something from his bumper hooked into my bumper and when he backed up he made a hole in my bumper.
remind me again. is the camry curse when someone's camry gets totaled? or when it gets hurt?
yeah, i belive my camry is cursed . last year alone, my camry had driver side mirror busted, 8" dent on the driver side door and numberous scratches on L/R side. I have an idea of who did it on both incident but no solid evidences to pin them.
nothing happen when I park my old saturn on the same spot for 2 years.
accidents can just be random and bad luck. Or you could be like the retards who crashed their mustang in my front yard lastnight...
i was working at my computer and hear a loud car gun their engine around the corner, then a loud crash/crunch, skid and grind, followed by a string of "F--K" words again and again. The idiots overshot the corner and from the looks of it went into an oversteer, smashed the curb on the drivers front, and skidded to a halt in my front yard (no damage to my yard).
i practise defensive driving.
Leave space for the jerk behind u to brake in time and give him ample warning.. so apply ur brake slowly if u see the dude brake infront of u so that u do not get rear ended.
as for u, tough luck man.. guess the guy behind u was just sleeping on the wheel or following too closely.
Like me, my car is begging me for $$. repairs after repairs, about $1400 and counting (timing belt broke, water pump, oil pump leaking and all that got fixed, NOW, break lines leaking).. SHIT HAPPENS!
Actually that is sorta how everything went with the accident. The car in front of me seemed to apply their brakes slowly at first. Then suddenly they applied it really hard (they came to a very abrupt stop before turning). I hate it when people do that. I was listening to music but I was paying attention. I applied my brakes slowly at first and then when I noticed the car coming to a quick stop, I put my foot down. When my car did not hit the car in front of me, I thought I was in the clear and then the guy behind me came crashing into my rear end (twice). I instantly thought that my rear end was history but I was lucky enough to have just a scratched up bumper. The driver in front of me turned left, probably never knowing the aftermath of his quick stop. The guy who hit me got out of his car (2000 Malibu) asking if I was OK and saying that his brakes had seemed a little off and had been squeaking. Everything was handled peacefully. No profanity and no complaints. Everyone reported the truth to the cops and everyone had insurance.
My bumper originally had a pretty big scratch on it that I hated to see every time I popped my trunk so on a positive note I get a brand new bumper.
To add to that, my fiance' saw another Camry around town that is a spitting image of my car (before I started modding it) and it appeared to have been rear-ended as well.
I am a pretty cautious driver (when in close proximity of other vehicles) and I try not to follow any car closely but I guess in a situation like that an accident could not be avoided.

accidents happen. my pop got into 2 major accidents in one week. first one was a drunk driver ran a red light and t-boned his corolla. a couple of days later in his rental car, he swung too wide around a corner and hit a car head-on and totalled both cars. luckily everyone was okay and luckily he took out the insurance on the rental since it was on the drunk drivers tab.
