Gen5 Locking access to trunk

So theres the little tabs on the back of the rear seats that if engaged will prevent the seats from folding down and allowing access to the trunk. Is there a way to lockout the trunk release lever and remote trunk release?

there it a way to lock the lever which is putting the key in the trunk keyhole and turning it. But i don't know of a way of blocking it with the remote.

when you UN-lock it just turn the key in the direction that you would do to pop the trunk.......if you go to a restaurant that has valet parking and want to lock the trunk make sure you give them the valet key so they just don't UN-lock the trunk.

To the best of my knowledge -dealer. They'll need your VIN. A connected locksmith may be able to make one. Not sure on the Gen 5 but older one's you just use your regular key to turn the lock in the opposite direction from normally opening it. Remove the key and the remote and valet key won't open the trunk. If the seats are locked to you need the regular key for access. Some gloveboxes work the same way.

Joel930...

To lock the trunk's pull lever, insert your key into the trunk lid, turn it counter-clockwise until the slit is horizontal.

To unlock and have normal operations of the lever again, insert the key and turn clockwise until the slit is vertical.

and as far as I know, there is no way to disable trunk pop from the remote entry. That means when you lock the seats from folding down and lock the trunk pull lever, the only way to open the trunk is via the remote (or use the key to physically do it). This could be annoying if your key is inserted and the engine is on - the car wont take signals from the key fob while in the "ON" position.

hope that helps
