This sucks big time. I changed my oil tonight, I was over the 5000 I usually change at and towards 6000, and since I drive alot on friday and it's starting to get warm here, I decided I better change my oil tonight. I went to the store, bought the oil, came home, drained it, got the plug back in, when disaster struck. I was rolling the car off of the stands to get better access to the motor to put the oil in, and my door swung too far open, and caught on the garage door opening. I stopped it before it went too far, but the damage was done. the door mounts bent about 1/8 in. out, this doesn't seem like much, but now the door won't close. the door also has a nice little bump in it where the door hit one of the mounting bolts. Now I feel like I need to do this
i know how u feel.
my 93 camry just asked me for $1400 in repair bills..
and there are issues to be resolved.
like damn regulator for the window broke for the second time..
brake line broke.. and i do not ahve time to fix it..
It just rolled off the stands alot quicker than I thought it would, I thought I would be able to hold it back, I forgot that the rear end was hanging over our slanted driveway.
Well, I told my dad, and it went better than expected. He told me I made a dumb move and that he was going to let me take care of it. That's it. Virtually no scolding, and he didn't get mad at me. Trust me, having to pay for it is way better than having my parents bail me out, they are masters of getting more out of that type of thing. Last time they bailed me out I didn't hear the end of it for weeks. Anyway, the door isn't damaged too badly, and I think I can bend the mounts back into shape, and get the little nicks back into contour with some bodyworking tools, and that will be good enough. I may only be driving it for another year, and if it's more than that it will be repainted anyway.
you guys must be luck in the States. Our Junk Yard dont got Camry stuff.! if it is it's super rare.! I think Finding parts is too hard. i'll rather pay extra cash to get the new part
Well, I went a body & paint shop today that was reccommended to me by some friends that know the owner, and my door now closes properly! Yay! I was really surprised at the service and price. I took the car over, talked to they guy, gave him the keys, came back in a hour or so and it was fixed for $60. The door doesn't shut quite as smoothly, but I don't mind. I'm just glad it didn't cost any more. Heck, that's the price I would have had to pay for just the hinges at a pick and pull probably, plus the work I would have to do, so I count it as worth it.
Yes, the owner knows some friends of mine, and they reccommended him and I told him that, so he might have just hooked me up with a good deal. The coolest part besides the price is that it's done, he started working on it as soon as I took it in.
