USA Just Installed Stereo BUT Need HELP

I just had a receiver and 4 speakers done, but now I find out because of the shitty in-glass antenna combined with the radios bad FM sensitivity, not even the strongest signals come in clear! I need to buy a head unit that has better FM sensitivity, I looked at Pioneer and I see that it is the best of all receivers in terms of FM sensitivity at least. My questions is now, I have a JVC headunit in there, all wired up. Can I just uinplug the JVC and plug the Pioneer right in, or do I need to have it rewired to fit the new Pioneer receiver. I am not sure if all aftermarket radios use a universal harness. Please let me know ASAP I cant't believe this happened.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

i'm sure you're gonna have to rewire the harness again...even old pioneer won't plug into the new pioneers

Maybe consider a powered antenna booster?

If you don't have all the wires crimped up, you can just untwist all the wires from the JVC unit and the wiring harness and twist all the wires from the new unit to the wiring harness. They should be color matched just as they are with the JVC unit and it should work but untwisting all the wires could suck ass and damage the wires a little. If I'm not mistaken, all Camry's since 1987 use the same wiring harness for aftermarket radios.

The simplest thing to do is to just spit out about $7 at Wal-mart for a new harness that plugs into your factory stereo harness for the new unit. This is if you want to go with a new unit. Sell the JVC unit on ebay or in the Buy/Sale Section (with wiring harness attached). It will probably sell quickly if you have a reasonable price.

Yea...Do any of you have experience with the Pioneers. According to the specs, they are much more sensitive than the JVC but withthe shit in glass antenna I will never know until i try it. I will sell it on ebay prob for a loss...Also if anyone needs the factory head unit for a 97 Avalon and the amp, or speakers please send me a PM or IM me at parimento1

I have always used Pioneers and I love them. I had one in my 89 Camry with the In Glass antenna and had great reception.

Don't rely on the specs...they are generally worthless. I'd look at Alpine.
