driv'n home

well i was driving to "the lot" where a bunch of friends of mine all hang out and just shoot wind and talk about cars some ppl race just depends. well i was at a light and my radio shut off then i went to take off and i couldn't. So i tried starting my car and it only gave this clicking noise so i stopped threw on my hazards. then i finally realized what it was. when i was give the car a tune up i replaced the fuel filter because the had sat for a couple of years well instead of dropping the tank my auto teck teacher told me to just put additives in. so now i get to go and buy a new fuel filter. This will be fun. The last one i replaced i had scratches on my arm from try'n to get my up to the filter just to un bolt it. I knew it was goin to happen though i didn't get to upset about it the only bad part is i have prom tomorrow night and no way there.

P.S. i'm hope'n before i leave for college i'll have a lowering springs on my car. and a few minor detail. like tint. cold air intake. and exhaust.

Um if your issue is no crank/no start, its your alternator and /or battery.

Yeah the clicking and the radio shutting off sounds like it's your battery.

its not the battery, its the alternator...
if you couldnt start it in the first place, then it'd be the battery more than likely.
but because you got it started and you were driving, then the battery drained itself... thats because the alternator isnt charging the battery.

Yup, just replaced my Cam's alternator with a 155K Celica drop top's alternator because I had the SAME exact symptoms. Ironically, it died for me at the Autozone parking lot. Since I had to turn it off to go in and buy a new batter The new bat had the same issue so I got a refund and tested the old battery. The old battery was just fine so I knew it was alternator.

After I replaced it, no problemo. Just remember that you'll need to jump start the car for the first crank up after replacement and MAKE SURE that your battery terminals are clean.

BTW- the fuel filter is a breeze to change, from the top...you just remove the intake tube and go!

ok found out what happened yes my battery did get drained cuz somethin was up with my altenator the mechanic told me that for my year of car the volatge regulators would burn up easily now the only thing is my altenator was only in my car for a month and a half and half of that time it wasn't bein moved. so. i dunno how it drained so quickly. also i've changed the fuel filter out already when i was tuning the car. I guess u would call it a tune. so i should have it back either tomorrow evening or wensday at the latest. then it's time to start saving up for lowering springs and susupension.

Hell no it ain't easy to pull the filter out. It's a bitch! Damn bottom bolt will get you if you don't have the right tools. By the time I was done, I'm sure my legs probably grew and inch and my back was completely worn because I had to hunch over to get that bastard bolt.

It's replaced though.. with a Bosch filter.. 11.95, new, with shipping Mileage is AWESOME now. Dunno if it's the filter but the old one was a Toyota OEM with the paint peeling off I did the full tune up though with distrib. cap, rotor arm, spark wires, plugs (Denso Iridiums), fuel fitler, air fliter cleaning (got a rice cone filter), and a new valve cover seal with spark plug tube seals with a nice valve cover spraying Aluminium. makes the block look like new. Sprayed my strut bar and short ram
