Hello everyone, i bought my new 2007 camry xle super white about 3 weeks ago and it came with everything BUT the navigation system, i didn't really care about it at first 'cause i don't really need that but one day i went to the toyota.com website and i was looking at the 3D tour feature and i noticed that my car has everything that's shown on that tour BUT the freaking navigation system, i understand that they make different models with different features etc. which is cool 'cause some people prefer some things and others don't.
Ok, enough for the yada yada yada...........my question is, even though i bought my car without the nav system could it be added if i take it to the dealer? and if so, around how much would it be? thanks in advance!
Yeah that was my first thought of course, but i just wanted to save me the hassle by asking you guys, i may be wrong but i've been googling around and so far i think that only the hybrid models have the nav system, i hope i'm mistaken
I don't know exactly how the new dash is set up, but I'm sure you could buy a nav. system (aftermarket) from a place like www.crutchfield.com or something.
Yeah i'm aware of that 100% there are tons of places where you could get all type of gadgets etc... but i'm talking about an actual navigation system from toyota, well i guess i'm gonna have to call the dealership on monday, thanks for the help anyways mcthings, i appretiate it.

Why would you spend $2200 to buy one now when it was only a $1200 factory option???

Well, here's the story, i recently had a 1996 camry which took a crap on me again so i decided to get rid of it so i sold it BUT in the meantime i had no car to move around or even to go to work so i had to go to enterprise and rent one for like 3 days, 3 days after i rented the car i went with my brother-in-law and another friend to the dealership to get a new camry, i was thinking leather, moonroof and nav system all the way but the only one they had available was the one i got from them, XLE super white fully loaded BUT without the darned nav system, well let's see........that one was the only one they had in stock and i needed a car right away 'cause i was stocked paying for a car that i wasn't going to keep, well i said ''screw the nav system, i want it but is not like i really need it 'cause i'd be lost without it''
Well my dear friend, now i have a car that doesn't give me any problems but to make it a happy ending i need to see the freaking nav system in my car!
Yeah bro, believe me i really wish you had the nav system in your ride
i don't know about ''sweet-talking'' the dealer but it doesn't seem like a bad idea i may try that you never know what may come out of it LOL.
Well, i'll be looking around for one if i don't get a good deal from the dealership, i'm open for offers guys so hit me up if you know someone that has one up for sale......(not stolen ones please!)
Maybe this will help maybe it won't. I'm in a similar situation. I just bought a 07 SE and I love it. The port actually installed 2 tone suede seats so its very cool, however when I went in to look at the Camry's I told them exactly what I wanted...yes I'm a woman that knows what she wants...and navigation was part of it, and yes I do get lost. Problem was the car they had and wanted to sell me didn't have the Nav...they said no problem we will install it.
One month later afer buying the car and the Nav for $2200 and I still don't have my nav and they tell me the wiring harness is being manufactured and I will have it in a couple weeks. My question then was how do other 07's have Nav already installed. After calling 5+ dealers and Toyota corp. I have found out the stock navigation can only be installed at the factory. The navigation my dealer is (wants) to install is aftermarket. Needless to say I am not happy and told them they will not install anything in my car until I see the exact unit and have the unit number. I want the aqua look to it and I don't like aftermarket systems. I at first was told it will be a better Nav system...like and eclipse now I am told it will be a Pioneer...they say this is who builds Toyota's systems. I don't know what I'm going to do right now but I do feel very mislead. Anyone have any ideas or comments...I need help all I know right now is I have my survey for the dealership and I'm waiting to get this resolved before I fill it out.

They are going to install and AVIC system, which is nice for aftermarket, but you, like me wanted OEM.
Based on my experience with other makes, the NAV is not a dealer install because there is a lot of additional wiring (sensors, etc...) needed to make it work and basically requires tearing apart the interior/dash. Every tech/salesman I have spoken to (I wanted to get the OEM NAV in another vehicle that didn't come with it) said if it didn't come from the factory with it, get an aftermarket because your car will never be the same. Not to mention, the very high cost due to the additional labor.
At this point, I think your best bet is to call the dealer to the carpet on not minding your request for OEM, and let them put in the AVIC-nX system, but push for additional discount based upon your request and expectation for the OEM system.
By the way, the newer AVIC can run real time traffic in major metro areas with an added module

Thanks for that advise...but is the AVIC-nX going to look decent...like with the silver frame so it matches the interior??? I'm really really worried about aftermarket stuff...
