i got a 2005 Camry LE I-4,,im getting extremely crappy gas milage,,i changed the air filter,,got a minor tune up,,got my plugs changed and wires,,did a full synthetic oil change,,and i only get about 400km on a full tank,,got the dealer to chek out my car,,adn they said its perfectly fyne,,did everything possible,,chek breaks for dragging,,chekd all fluid levels,,did computerized test,,engine runs perfect,,and the car only has 20 000km on it,,its only 6 months old,,,i dont drive rough,,its all street,,but i use to get about 520km on a full tank now i get between 350-400,,i even tried high octane gas,,and same problme
Check your fuel filter (although, being an '05, it'll probably not be the answer). Outside of that, a good fuel injector cleaning with a TN favorite... Seafoam engine treatment As well as running it through the intake manifold via the brake booster vaccum line

Hi
Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you are not calculating your gas mileage correctly
520km = 320 miles. It's a 18 gallon tank so it would be 17.7 mpg
350 km = 218 miles 12 mpg
400 km = 250 miles 13.8 mpg
Even when you were getting 520 km, that was POOR gas mileage. I have a 2002 V6 GEN5 and when get 17 mpg, it's considered poor gas mileage and i have 110, 000 km. I normaly get around 19 mpg
Any way, if you are getting those mileage, there is something very very wrong with your car.
it's not a matter of a tune up... your car is ONLY a year old. Even if you never tuned your 4 cylinder car for years you would not those gas mileage you are stating. Some people really abuse these cars, and it wont come near 12 to 13 mpg. 12 to 13 mpgs are sports cars with a V8, with 300 horse, etc.
If your calculations are correct take it to the dealer. Your car is still under warranty. Fill it up and get them to drive it for a hundred kilometers or so. Not sure if they are willing to do this or not. If you're right about your mileage I'm sure they will get your car fixed at no charge. If you're wrong, I',m sure you will get charged for their time.
that sucks man.. id definately bring it straight to the dealership.. i have a gen 5.5 le with only 23,000km, and it goes for a good 800-900km per a fill up. with high octane, it goes up to 1000km. i was so impressed. although i dont see it reaching 1000km anymore.. that was only the start when i was first breaking it in. regardless, if you truely are not driving it roughly.. you must go get it check out asap.
everything is good on the car showed it to Toyota and there not really helping much,,they said its normal its my driving habits,,i got a computerized test done on it everything is good,,i put in high octane got about 600km thatz about it,,pretty good,,but GAS IS EXPENSIVE
My milage on my 2005 i4 LE sucks as well......20mpg strate 75mph on a highway. my milage has sucked sence i got the car so im used to it. BTW i just hit 14,000 miles

My 2005 SE I-4 driven in some of the worst stop and go traffic you have ever seen sill gets over 20mpg. The worst I ever saw on one tank where I drove it hard was 19 mpg.
Premium fuel will do nothing to increase gas mileage in this particular 4 cylinder engine.
It may in some higher performance engines designed to take advantage of higher octane by advancing the timing, but what you are seeing is a gain in efficiency only. A gallon of 87 octane has the same BTU rating as a gallon of 93 octance.
Have you tried pulling the battery cable and resetting the ECU? Let it sit dead for like 30 minutes or so, put it back and see if that helps. Many people in this forum have had good results with that. Run a tank out and then see if the next tank is any better once the ECU reset is done.
As well as running it through the intake manifold via the brake booster vaccum line
sorry but im not really that mechanically inclined. my question is, in my 92 xle v6 which is the brake booster vacuum line? pictures would be great. do i just poor the seafoam little by little, like a very small stream? thank in advance.
i get 200 mp-Tank. i dont know how you can say its crappy, i wounder what mine is. Shitty? I floor it a lot though mosly street driving.
you can't really figure gas mileage by tank. try filling your car until it is full (do not top-off). then drive. when you get gas, fill it up until is it full (do not top-off). then divide the miles you have driven by the amount of gas you just put in. the number you get will by your mpg.
My 93 5SFE gets 30 mpg highway and 25-26 city. This thread is knida scaring me about the newer Camry's, nobody here seems to be getting the same mileage out of their 2-3 year old cars that I am out of my 13 yr old car...
i get average 22 to 25 mpg....city/highway driving, its not bad but after i rechecked my tire pressure and added some air i got 27 to 30 mpg =)), but there is a down fall to too, make sure you don't add to much air or else you will have uneven tread wear.
