oil for my Camry

My '02 Camry is getting up in miles. It'll be at 75,000 in the next week or two at most. Right now I'm using mobil1 synthetic 5w30, and have been for a long time. The bottle says its formulated for newer vehicles. Since mine is now 4.5 years old and with that mileage, should I switch to one of those high mileage oils, or a different viscosity, or just stay with what I've got. The car has had its oil and filter changed every 4-6,000 miles since new, and doesn't burn a drop between changes, nor does it leak at all. Mechanically, it runs as well as a brand new one, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it a long distance. I'm actually going to be taking it on a 3,000 mile round trip to Miami in a couple of months. I've given up the thought of trading it on an '07 because it just doesn't make sense for me to take on a car payment for three years when there's nothing wrong with what I've got, so I want this one to last me.

Keep using the Mobil 1 5W-30.

I used Mobil 1 on my old Honda until 146k miles (till I got rid of it) and it didn't burn a drop either.

Don't Change

Stick with 5W-30 or 10W-30 and keep at it. I have Mobil 1 Synthetic 15,000 mile that I change every 10k with a Mobil 1 Synthetic oil filter and clean my K&N drop in air filter every 10k. Jon.

20W50? That too damn thick. That'll more than likely start robbing some MPG. For the summer, I like to go with a nice 5w30 blend. For the winter, I bump it to 10w30 Synthetic is fine for your engine.. It's only when you go from crap oil to synthetic that you MAY run into problems but that's a RARITY!

20W-50 doesnt work to well in the winter conditions, its a thicker oil that race engines use.

I use semi-synthetic 15w-50 oil in mine. I have used heaps of other oils and none of them compare to Pennzoil. The numbers are thick but it doesn't seem to affect the engine. I use the thicker stuff becuase im up to 220,000kms on the clock and I have some noisy valves that need adjusting, so the thicker oil works well. I change it every 5000 km and it comes out very clean when I change it. Other oils I have used have come out black - so yeah a little thick but alot cleaner and is protecting my engine well.

You probably could stretch that interval further than that with no problems. I can go 4500miles on Mobil Clean 7500 and still have very good results from the oil. I'm gonna take it up to 5400-5700 for my next oil change.

I had an oil analysis done on Mobil Clean 7500 with 4500 miles. It came back with excellent results - very little wear metals found.

I'm trying some full synthetic I found at the store, it's house brand but it has been doing fine so far, 10W-30.
